Syöte 1:50 000 - Hiking Map

Syöte is known for its wilderness spruce hills, interspersed with hillside bogs and lush stream valleys. The diverse range of species found in the national park’s varied habitats includes all of Finland’s large predators, as well as the white-tailed eagle, the Siberian jay, the Lapland longspur, the capercaillie, the black woodpecker, and the eastern redstart, while brown trout and otters splash about in the streams. There are 122 kilometers of marked cross-country skiing and hiking trails and 150 kilometers of trails suitable for cycling, some of which run through the Iso-Syöte hiking area and other nearby areas. You can continue your hike along the UKK Trail. The Pärjänjoki River is a popular spot for canoeing and fishing, but it can be quite rocky during dry periods.
